Solar Cell HALT Chamber

This HALT (highly accelerated life test) chamber was developed to subject 6 multijunction photovoltaic cells to the following conditions that are in excess of typical concentrated photovoltaic and aerospace applications:

  • Continuous concentrated sunlight from 10 to 1000+ times the sun’s power
  • Temperatures from -100 °C to 200 °C (individually controlled)
  • Vacuum from 10-5 mbar to atmospheric pressure
  • Electrical biasing in all 4 quadrants

Surya Design handled the mechanical design (except for the vacuum chamber) and electrical design for this project.
